Dan Burnett to receive "Friend of RTNDA Award" from RTNDA Canada

TORONTO, May 7 /CNW/ - RTNDA Canada is pleased to announce that Dan
Burnett will receive the 2007 "Friend of RTNDA Award" to be presented at the
association's national conference June 21-23, 2007 in Vancouver, British
Columbia.
"Dan Burnett has been one of RTNDA's strongest supporters for years, and
the Board of Directors takes this opportunity to recognize Dan's commitment,"
says RTNDA President Bob McLaughlin.
Dan, of the Vancouver law firm Owen Bird Law Corporation, is one of
Canada's leading media lawyers. He frequently lectures on media law issues for
reporters and journalism students. He represents several media outlets on
issues ranging from publication bans, to access to courts and court files,
contempt, defamation and privacy. Dan is a leading advocate for freedom of
information for Canadian broadcast journalists.
The "Friend of RTNDA Award" is presented to individuals or organizations,
which have shown a true commitment to RTNDA and the betterment of broadcast
journalism in Canada. Dan Burnett will join the select group of "Friends"
which includes Broadcast News, CNN Newsource Sales, Canada NewsWire, WIC, VOCM
Radio, Golden West Radio, Broadcast Dialogue magazine, CTV and Taylor
Enterprises.
