RTNDF Auction Sets A New Record

Jul 2, 2008

TORONTO, July 2 /CNW/ - It is a milestone for the Radio Television News
Directors Foundation. The foundation celebrated its 30th anniversary in style,
raising $11,205 at their annual auction, during the recent RTNDA Canada
conference in Ottawa. That is a new record for the auction.
"We are very excited about the auction this year," said RTNDF President
Ken Kingston. "An event like this would not be possible without the efforts of
so many. A big thank-you to current and former members of the RTNDA and RTNDF
Boards, including former RTNDA awards chair Lis Travers, RTNDA sponsorship
chair Bernadette Lee, former RTNDF President Eldon Duchscher and RTNDA
Operations Manager Sherry Denesha and her staff. We also appreciate the
generous contribution of our special partners, CNNNEWSOURCE, CNW Group, and
The Canadian Press; conference sponsors; suppliers to our industry and
countless others who have contributed time, assistance, product and effort to
the auction. Thanks also to our incredible auctioneer team of former RTNDA
president Terry Scott and Del Archer, who encouraged auction participants to
'bid high and bid often', and last but not least RTNDA members and sponsors
who opened their wallets and bid generously in our auction."

The RTNDF was established by the RTNDA in 1978 to offer financial
assistance to students in Canada. Each year, six scholarships will be awarded
to Canadian students. To date, the RTNDF has awarded scholarships valued at
more than $221,500.
