Peter Angione to be presented with Distinguished Service Award

TORONTO, May 23, 2012 /CNW/ - RTDNA Canada - The Association of Electronic Journalists - will recognize a long-standing member of the association, Peter Angione, with the Distinguished Service Award. This award honours a member who has played a major role in the continuing success of RTDNA Canada. It is presented in recognition and appreciation of outstanding contribution and exemplary distinguished service rendered for the benefit and advancement of broadcast journalism and RTDNA Canada.

Peter Angione is an active and dedicated member of RTDNA and has served as Conference Chair for five consecutive years. "The National Conference is a major organizational task that requires a tremendous amount of attention twelve months of the year," said RTDNA Canada president Andy LeBlanc. "We've been extremely lucky having Peter at the helm of the team that handles all of the logistics leading up to the conference. He has continued to deliver exciting ideas for our professional development sessions, and his expertise and experience were vital to our plans for the 50^th anniversary celebrations in Toronto next month."

Peter has volunteered countless hours as Conference Chair, yet still manages to offer help to other organizations, including the advisory council for Algonquin College, and several community initiatives with his newsroom including Food Drives and the Weekend to End Women's Cancer.  During two decades in television news, Peter has worked as a reporter, senior producer and anchor/reporter and is now news director at CTV Ottawa. He has earned a Bachelor of Journalism at University of Kings College, and a BA in English and History at Dalhousie University.

Peter will be presented with the Distinguished Service Award during the President's Awards Gala in Toronto, June 22^nd, 2012.
