RTDNA Canada concerned after police raid reporter’s home

March 15, 2012 - RTDNA Canada – The Association of Electronic Journalists – is worried about the chilling effect a police raid on a Montreal reporter's home could have on journalists in Quebec and across Canada. Le Journal reporter Eric-Yvan LeMay had reported about confidential medical files that were easily accessible in the hallways of several hospitals.

"Reporters in Canada should not have to fear that covering such stories in the public interest will result in police search and seizure, and the threat of criminal charges" said RTDNA Canada President Andy LeBlanc. "Such actions are an impediment to the important role journalists have in a democracy."
